Dame Janet Infants School Mural

This project was a collaboration between sixth form students at Chatham House Grammar School where I was teaching and the infants at Dame Janet Infants School in Ramsgate.

For the first stage the sixth formers helped me to deliver painting workshops to all year 1 pupils during their week of creativity. We read them the Hungry Caterpillar story and following a discussion they painted from imagination their own garden creatures.

The images were then scaled up to create a mural for their playground.

For the final stage pupils from both schools painted the mural together. We wanted to include as many pupils as we could at each stage of the project so they had ownership of the mural.
