Garden Gate

The Garden Gate Project in Cliftonville is a community organisation based within a walled garden in Northdown Park.
I started going there to draw at the end of summer 2018 and made my first mixed media concertina sketchbook in the garden. During lock down I was unable to visit and used visual material from the garden to decorate the surfaces of ceramic ware.

I have continued to visit the garden for inspiration and used the material drawn and photographed there to make series of paintings and ceramics.
The garden is cared for with love, it’s a peaceful sanctuary and ever evolving.
It’s a place I return to feel connected to nature and the passing of time.
